Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa yoga is also called Flow Yoga, overlaps with Hatha yoga. Breathing through the postures (asanas). Vinyasa means flow, flow, flow.

The style of breathing used in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is Ujjayi, this is a relaxed style of diaphragmatic breathing, characterized by an ocean of sound that resonates in the throat of the practitioner. In practice maintaining this specific breathing style in alignment with movement.

The steady cycle of breathing provides the practitioner a calming, spiritual focal point. There are a variety of bandhas. Bandha, Sanskrit for bonded seal is a term used in yoga for a combination of postures with breathing techniques, which aim to retain bundled quantities of prana and use.
